The red-hot Chevy coupe belonging to Howard Canter is our featured firecracker for July. Howard picked a 1940 Chevy because that is what he was driving when he learned to drive. Makes sense to me. Can’t give up those memories!
The car was bought in 2002 by a friend of Howard's & was about 50% completed when the previous owner gave up on the project. His friend’s plan was to clean it up & flip for a profit. When Howard saw the car & told his friend he would like to buy it, his friend said he could have it for what he paid for it. Now that’s a friend.
Since Howard has had it he has done all the finishing touches including: body work & paint, air conditioning, rewiring & instrumentation, upholstery, & much more.
Howard does like to drive the car. He’s been to Flagstaff twice, the Bakersfield Fairgrounds car show, a car show in Pueblo, Colorado, to our show at Santa Anita, & lots of local cruises. No trailer Queen here. Hope to see it at all the Cal-Rods functions. Nice ride Howard!
